Since Josh speaks Dutch, not Spanish, I happily stepped in and was even happier when I saw that he was selling fresh tamales out of the back of his truck! He had chicken, pork, and cheese varieties made from masa and a fresh "elote" sweet flavor that was to die for. He let us sample it with our fingers.
So, if you live in the area and want to order your own, they're $14 for 10 (a really good deal if you consider how much they cost in a restaurant and the fact that this guy is probably living on his tamales profits). Just call Jorge at 801.687.9106. And speak Spanish (not Dutch).

That happens to Keaka all the time! He is always being mistaken for something. He is a mix of three minorities though so it's easy to understand why.
Just wanted to clarify one thing on what Rachel wrote. There are normal tamales (which are as good as any tamale you've ever had at a restaurant) and then there are tamales made from fresh corn that this guy is actually grinding himself. These fresh corn tamales (or "elote" as Rachel calls them) are amazing! Better than any tamale I've ever had. The only catch with those is that you have to call Jorge a day in advance if you want them because they have to grind the corn themselves. Worth the wait...and almost worth being mistaken for another race. Also, Rachel didn't mention that there are veggie tamales (for all of the those non-meat eaters out there like myself). Delicious. Support your local immigrant.
Yum, I wish!!
Next time Jorge rolls around, count me in!
Haha, my husband gets confused too. They look and sound delicious!
