A scene in the (delightful) Fantastic Mr. Fox that we saw a few weeks ago reminded me of one final Europe story. If you've seen the movie (and if you haven't, go see it!), remember the scene where Ash makes Kristofferson sleep under a table in his room?
Well, when Jesse arrived to Madrid at the end of our time there, the house was stuffed to the gills. The beds had been taken long ago--some people were sleeping in the (cleaned out) garage, others on the couch, and others on floor mats. In fact, we had so many people crammed in the house at the end that floor space itself was a premium. That's what led Jesse to sleep underneath the pool table in "the boys' room" at the very top of the house.
Jet lag + bed beneath a pool table = not one but two the times that Jesse awoke, sat up abruptly, and banged his forehead.
Quite amusing (for people other than Jesse).
